When Fifty Shades of Grey hit the bookshops back in 2011 there is no doubt that it opened our eyes! The kinky nature of the book ensured that millions of women around the world were able to explore their fantasies without guilt. With the movie due to be released on Valentine's day, a new study believes this is the year we Brits are going to really get rid of our sexual taboos once and for all!
Whatever your feelings about the book, (some of our Leeds Escorts loved it while others hated it), there's no denying that it got us all talking. Sex toy designers, LELO have been keeping an eye on us over the last 5 years and they believe that we Brits have already become far more adventurous in our sex lives.
Their findings revealed that 83% of women now feel confident to tell their partners what they want in the bedroom compared to only 67% back in 2009. We've also become much more adventurous when it comes to sex toys, with 74% of those asked openly admitting to owning at least one sex toy compared to just 38% in 2011.
Said Steve Thomson, LELO Head of Marketing: "The taboo is finally dead. Fifty Shades played a huge role in exposing the masses to a thriving subculture of vibrant sexuality, of embracing one's most secret desires. But 2015 is the year that it will finally come to a head: the lid is about to blow off the box of the taboo.
What do you think people of Leeds? Have we really reached a whole new level of kinky bedroom antics? Or were we always just as naughty, we just didn't talk about it so much!
